Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation

Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation in 100 Ivory | £7.99 | LINK

I've been on a hunt for a good foundation over the past few months and in turn, have become slightly obsessed with trying out new ones on a regular basis! I've always been a huge fan of my Rimmel Match Perfection and Wake Me Up (read my comparison posts here) but thought I should start to change it up a bit as I was getting quite bored of using the same product day in day out.I still really like both of these products, but I feel like it's nice to have a change, especially as we come into a new season!

Among other brands and formulas, I decided to try another foundation from Rimmel after hearing some really great reviews on the Lasting Finish foundation. I thought that if I liked my other 2 so much then surely this would be amazing as well? So a few months ago I decided to pick up a bottle from Boots in the shade 100 Ivory and give it a whirl!

Like most Rimmel foundations, the Lasting Finish Foundation comes in a sleek glass bottle with a red pump and lid. The quality of Rimmel's packaging is really good, considering you're paying just £7.99 for the product yet there are other brands out there where you pay way more but don't even get a pump!

The Lasting Finish foundation is designed to offer a full coverage look that is meant to last all day, even during in the heat of Summer, whilst still being comfortable on the skin. Enriched with "comfort serum" this foundation basically claims to last all day without turning cakey or patchy and give you that flawless finish! I must admit the coverage on this foundation is really good and helps cover blemishes, redness and discolouration. Compared the the Match Perfection which is quite light weight, this does offer a much fuller medium to buildable coverage. I'm not someone who loves a full coverage foundation as I still like to see the texture of my skin through my makeup and have more of a natural finish. This foundation offers me the best of both worlds, it gives me a good amount of coverage yet isn't heavy on the skin and leaves it natural looking.

The formula of this foundation is also slightly thicker which is good as it feels nice and creamy to blend out with my Expert Face brush. I also find that with a beauty sponge you can also get a much lighter finish with this foundation, so it's really up to you on how you apply it to suit you! What's also great is that the Lasting Finish contains SPF 20 which is perfect at keeping your skin protected from the Sun's rays all year long - especially in the Summer. I always apply a moisturiser that contains SPF anyway, but it's nice to know that this foundation does as well.

Apply directly from bottle | Fully blended out into skin

The colour match of this foundation is quite good, maybe just a tiny bit darker than my natural skin colour. I think it's quite strange how the same shade across 3 foundations of the same brand can be so different. I always buy 100 Ivory from Rimmel, but I've found the Lasting Perfection to be slightly darker than the Match Perfection, yet lighter than Wake Me Up!

As for how this foundation wears on my skin, this is where I become unsure on the product. It looks great when I apply it and my makeup's fresh but once the afternoon rolls round it does start to cling to drier patches on my skin and go slightly patchy. I'm not someone who bothers to touch up their makeup throughout the day as I don't really have time, but maybe if you are this might work a bit better for you. I feel like this might be a product I will use for evenings out where I'm not going to wear it for a huge amount of time - which is slightly annoying since it claims to last 25 hours!

Thank you for reading today's post, I would love to hear your opinions on this foundation if you've tried it!

Collection Illuminating Touch Foundation

Collection Illuminating Touch Foundation | £5.99 | LINK

Hello everyone! I just want to say sorry for not blogging for a couple of weeks, I've been super busy and haven't had a chance to sit down and type! However I did finally get my brand new laptop at the weekend - yay! Which finally means I can easily blog and edit photos whenever I please rather than waiting hours for my laptop to start up and getting my photo editor to finally start working (honestly it was the bane of my life!).

I thought I would share my thoughts on a new foundation that I have been trying out for the past couple weeks. Collection is a brand that I find has some real beauty gems - the obvious one being their Lasting Perfection Concealer. On a recent shopping trip I spotted the new Illuminating Touch Foundation for just a mere £3.99 and thought I would give it a try. I have quite dry skin so I'm always on the hunt to find cheap products that can give me that healthy dewy glow back to my skin.

The first thing that struck my about this foundation was the really lovely packaging. The Collection Illuminating Touch Foundation comes in a sleek mattified glass bottle which you wouldn't really expect for a foundation that you paid just under £4 for! I also love the fact that is has a good sturdy pump that feels really good quality - plus pumps are great for making sure you don't use too much product in one go.

The shade that I picked up was Ivory 2 which is the second lightest shade in the range. I'll be honest and say the colour selection wasn't that great from the shop that I bought mine from as Ivory 2 seemed to be the lightest shade they offered. As I do have quite pale skin I was sceptical as to whether this shade would match me well, but I'm glad to say it does and that I think the lightest shade would be far too light for me! This is great that there is a very light shade (Porcelain) available as I am aware that many fair skinned girls find it hard to match a foundation to their skin colour.

The product itself is much thicker than I thought it would be. If you have tried Rimmel's Match Perfection Foundation then that's the sort of consistency that I thought that it would be like. Despite being a thicker formula the foundation is still very light on the skin yet offers a nice light to medium coverage that is definitely build-able. I like my foundations to look like "my skin but better" rather than super heavy and thick and I find that this one does offer that lovely natural look that I love!

The staying power of this foundation is quite good but towards the end of the day I can definitely see that I need a bit of a touch up as it can start to wear off. I would say this is more of a day time foundation as the coverage is quite light and it does give you that lovely dewy finish. I have been very impressed with how well this foundation lasts, considering it's currently on offer for just £3.99 it's very good value for money!

So far I've been really enjoying using this foundation and will definitely continue using it. I'm not sure whether I would repurchase this again (maybe if I found it on another offer) as I do enjoy using my Rimmel foundations more, but it was nice to swap things up and try something new. If you are on the hunt for a nice everyday foundation then definitely give this try whist it's on offer!

Everyday Makeup Products Foundation Base Rimmel Stila Urban Decay Benefit Collection 2000 Review Belle-amie

Everyday Makeup Products Foundation Base Rimmel Stila Urban Decay Benefit Collection 2000 Review Belle-amie
Hello lovelies and welcome to the first part of a 3 post "mini-series" where I show you what makeup I use on a daily basis! The 3 posts will be about: Base makeup, Eye makeup and Lip makeup. In this post I'm going to talk about what products I use as a base, this includes things like primer, foundation and blusher. The products in these posts aren't what I use every single day I wear makeup, but the ones I reach for the most out of my collection! For example, I like to switch up my foundation or blusher depending on the look I am going for, but I've picked out the ones I really enjoy using! Now after that little introduction, on to the post!

| Primer |
My favourite product to use as a primer, despite not technically being one, is the Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm*. As a BB cream, I actually don't like this product very much, but when used under your foundation it's absolutely amazing! It allows my foundation to apply smoothly and evenly across my face and makes it last all day! This product also has a lot of benefits to the skin including hydration and protecting it with SPF 20. An SPF is vital in a face product as it will help defend your skin from the sun's UV rays, which in turn, will help your skin age better! | Foundation |
My everyday foundation is the Rimmel Wake Me Up in shade 100 Ivory. I'm pretty sure every beauty blogger has tried or at least heard of this amazing foundation! This foundation offers a light to medium coverage but it definitely buildable, so is great for most people. When applied over the Urban Decay Beauty Balm with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush, I get a lovely and flawless finish. It's really nice to apply and for me, doesn't go patchy or wear off quickly! This has to be one of my favourite foundations I've tried!

| Concealer |
Again, this is another beauty cult favourite, the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer. I repurchased mine in the shade Fair 1 as I found Light 2 to be a little bit dark for my skin at this time of year. The coverage of this concealer is amazing and will cover up almost any blemish or flaw! I also like how this shade is a tiny but lighter than my skin so is perfect at covering and brightening my under eye dark circles.

| Blusher |
The Benefit Fine One One is probably one of the prettiest makeup items I have in my collection! As it is a cream formula, I would apply it before my powder to avoid it going cakey on my skin. This blush comes in a stick form which 3 different shades: Pink Champagne, Sheer Watermelon and Soft Coral, all of which are beautiful blusher colours. You simply swipe it across the cheek, blend and then your done! All your blusher and highlighting done in 2 simple steps. If you would like to see a full review of this product, please let me know in the comments!

| Powder |
Finally, the last face product I apply is my Stila Angel Light Whitening Powder in Shade B. This is just a refill as I actually found this product in Poundland last year. I loved this powder so much that I bought about 6 of them, which considering I'm still on my first one, shows they were an absolute bargain! Even though this is a pressed powder, I've never had any issues with cakeiness, it just leaves my skin matte and flawless looking! This powder does come with a little sponge, but I prefer to use The Body Shop Face & Body brush for an amazing finish!

So that's all the products I use on my face to create the base of my makeup. My next post will go into what products I use on my eyes and brows! Please let me know if you liked this post and whether you'd like to see the next one in the series!

Review | Max Factor Xperience Weightless Foundation

Blended slightly with fingers

I've mentioned this product as my everyday foundation on my blog quite a few times. I've been through so many foundations in the past few years, but it's always Max Factor ones I can rely on. I've been using this foundation for over a year and it's definitely something I could not live without!
I use the shade Raw Silk 45, which is the second lightest shade of the six.

The packaging is very simple, black and green which I really like and it makes it seem more expensive than it is. For £9.99, you get 30ml of product, which is a standard amount for any foundation. I like how you have to squeeze the product out because you can use as much or a little as you want. This way, I think you waste less product as you do with a pump dispenser as it won't stick to the sides or clog up in the bottle.

"Luxurious flawless coverage with a weightless feel. Suitable for sensitive skin. Won't clog pores. Oil free."

The description on the back totally sold this foundation to me, and I'm happy to say it lives up to it's promises! I have very sensitive skin and I haven't broken out or had any skin issues from using this foundation. As it's oil free and weightless, it also hasn't given me any spots or blemishes. I would say this foundation is a light to medium coverage with one layer, but can be built up to a more fuller coverage with two layers. I usually have two layers of this foundation on and it doesn't feel heavy or caky at all. The consistency of the foundation is liquid, it isn't too runny and doesn't feel wet on the skin. The finish is quite dewy, so is great for people who have drier skin, but can be mattified with powder for those with oilier skin. The staying power is also really good. I never have to reapply through the day and doesn't turn patchy/ cling to dry skin. It also has SPF 10 which is great for all year round to protect your skin from the sun's rays.
