Makeup | Christmas

Christmas day is always such an exciting day to do my makeup, I feel like I have to use every piece of makeup I got that day! I also got the Real Techniques Core Collection brushes which I was so excited about! So far I'm really liking them and I used them to create this look.
I thought I would make a quick little post showing what makeup I was wearing this Christmas.

Stila Angel Whitening Powder in Shade B
Bloom Cosmetics Mineral Blusher in Rosie
Benefit Sha La Lovely brown eye shadow (for my brows)
Benefit She's So Jet Set Makeup Kit - They're Real mascara and Champagne please, Pretty in mink & Elegant espresso eyeshadows

As you can see I went for neutral eye shadows and nude lip with big lashes. I decided to wear a pair of Eylure Naturalite Lashes in Super Full 100. I only ever wear lashes on special occasions, and of course, this day was! I loved the length of these ones and they made my lashes look so much fuller. These lashes do come with an adhesive, which is okay but obviously not the best. They lasted a good amount of time and I think they really made my makeup look complete.

Hope you had a lovely Christmas!

Review | Max Factor Xperience Weightless Foundation

Blended slightly with fingers

I've mentioned this product as my everyday foundation on my blog quite a few times. I've been through so many foundations in the past few years, but it's always Max Factor ones I can rely on. I've been using this foundation for over a year and it's definitely something I could not live without!
I use the shade Raw Silk 45, which is the second lightest shade of the six.

The packaging is very simple, black and green which I really like and it makes it seem more expensive than it is. For £9.99, you get 30ml of product, which is a standard amount for any foundation. I like how you have to squeeze the product out because you can use as much or a little as you want. This way, I think you waste less product as you do with a pump dispenser as it won't stick to the sides or clog up in the bottle.

"Luxurious flawless coverage with a weightless feel. Suitable for sensitive skin. Won't clog pores. Oil free."

The description on the back totally sold this foundation to me, and I'm happy to say it lives up to it's promises! I have very sensitive skin and I haven't broken out or had any skin issues from using this foundation. As it's oil free and weightless, it also hasn't given me any spots or blemishes. I would say this foundation is a light to medium coverage with one layer, but can be built up to a more fuller coverage with two layers. I usually have two layers of this foundation on and it doesn't feel heavy or caky at all. The consistency of the foundation is liquid, it isn't too runny and doesn't feel wet on the skin. The finish is quite dewy, so is great for people who have drier skin, but can be mattified with powder for those with oilier skin. The staying power is also really good. I never have to reapply through the day and doesn't turn patchy/ cling to dry skin. It also has SPF 10 which is great for all year round to protect your skin from the sun's rays.

What's your everyday foundation?

Tag | How Much Is My Face?

Earrings Miss Selfridge | Top New Look
I've seen this tag post on quite a few blogs and I wanted to see how much my face makeup was worth. I did this on a day where I wasn't planning to make this post, so is genuinely what I would wear if I was going out in the day. Just so you know, my eyebrows aren't as weird as they look in the picture, it's just the dodgy lighting!

What I am wearing:
Rimmel Fix & Perfect primer in 002 - £6.99 (review HERE)
Max Factor Xperience foundation in Raw Silk 45 - £9.99
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer in light 2 - £4.19
Stila Angel Light powder in Shade B - £1
Bloom Pure Mineral blush in Rosie - £2.99
Benefit Sha La Lovely brown eyeshadow for my brows - Gift
Makeup Academy Eye primer - £2.50
Urban Decay Naked palette: Virgin, Sin & Toasted - £36 (review HERE)
2True liquid eyeliner in 1 - £1.99
Maybelline Colossal Volume Express mascara in Glam Black - £7.99
Benefit Bad Gal Lash mascara - £2
Makeup Academy lipstick in Shade 8 - £1 (review HERE)
Barry M limited edition lip gloss - £4.49 (review HERE)

Total: £81.13

That's not as bad as some other posts I have seen! Rather pleased with myself. To be honest, I do use a lot of magazine freebies and Poundland products, so I haven't used the RRPs of them! I also haven't included brushes, but if you would like a post about my daily makeup brushes or any reviews then do leave a comment.

This is my makeup bag which contains the majority of my everyday makeup items, a few brushes and a couple extra items. I usually take this to college when I know I'll need touch ups throughout the day.

That's quite a lot of products! If there are any products that you would like a review on, just leave me a comment below and I'll make sure I do!

Haul | Poundland Makeup

Collection 2000 Skyscraper Length & Definition mascara RRP £4.99 | Revlon Scented Nail Enamel in 355 Mad About Mango RRP £6.49
The first two things I found in Poundland were the Collection 2000 Skyscraper mascara and a Revlon Scented nail polish in 355 'Mad About Mango'. The mascara is nice and makes your lashes very black, but because the consistency is quite wet, I find it clumps my lashes together. I probably wont buy this again but it was nice to try for just £1. However, I really love this nail polish! It's a bright coral/ orange and when it's dry, smells of mangoes! I'm quite surprised to see this still on the Boots website, so I feel like I've grabbed a great bargain!
Stila Angel Light Whitening Powder Foundation Refill in Shade B | Stila Tinted Moisturiser in Light
My next Poundland buys were another Stila powder foundation and the Stila tinted moisturiser. I love the powder foundation and it has become my everyday powder, so I'm planning to stock up on these because I'm sure they'll be out of stock soon! I was also able to find the tinted moisturiser in the shade 'Light', so I thought it would be great for summer! It's a light coverage and because the colour is a little bit too light for my skin tone, it feels like it brightens my skin when I wear it.
Sally Hansen Diamond 12 Hour Lip Treatment lip gloss in Flawless (top) & Engaging (bottom) | Maybelline MNY My Lip Balm in 800 A
My final three Poundland buys were lip products! My mum actually bought me the Sally Hansen lip gloss in 'Engaging' (pink) and when I went back I also found it in this orange colour, which is called 'Flawless'. These are nice lip glosses; not too sticky and the glitter isn't rough on your lips. The colour is also quite sheer so are nice to put on top of lipstick. I also bought this Maybelline MNY lip balm, mainly because the packaging looked cute and it was pink and sparkly! I'm not sure if I like this product though, it has a horrible smell and doesn't moisturise your lips. It leaves some glitter but that's about it.
Simple Soothing Facial Toner | Savlon First Aid Wash | Simple Soothing Facial Scrub | Max Factor Xperience Weightless Foundation in Raw Silk 45
These four products actually are from Sainsbury's, but I thought I would include them in the haul anyway! I had run out of face scrub so was on the hunt for my St Ives Gentle one as I knew it was half price in Superdrug, but when I got there, they were all sold out! So I popped into Sainsbury's and saw the Simple range were on a 2 for £4 deal. As I needed some more toner, I thought I may as well try out their Soothing Facial Scrub too. I like the Simple brand, and I've never had any skin issues with using it so I'm hoping this scrub will be nice! I also picked up a Savlon First Aid Wash (which may I add, has gone up by 44p since I started buying it!). You can read about these products in My Skin Care Routine HERE. Finally, my Max Factor foundation was half price in Sainsbury's, so only £4.99! I couldn't resist the bargain so picked up a couple as this is my favourite foundation ever.

Hope you enjoyed the haul!

Prom Makeup

In my Prom Shoes & Accessories post I said that I would like to show you what makeup I wore to prom, so here it is! For prom I had a spray tan (about 3 shades darker) so I had to use the darker shades of makeup I owned. It's a brown/ golden smoky eye with a nude pink lip, so it's pretty wearable for many people. Just so you know there's quite a few photos in this post! Links are also provided.

 Face Makeup

Max Factor Colour Adapt Foundation in 40 Creamy Ivory: I applied this to my whole face and neck with a flat foundation brush. Despite this being the lightest shade in this foundation range it seemed to blend in well with my skin tone. Also, I didn't want a foundation with SPF in as it does not photograph well.

Natural Collection Cover-up Stick in Medium: I was quite lucky to have kept this from a holiday last year, so I was able to mix this with my foundation on my hand to make it a little bit darker

Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer in Light 2: I applied this under my eyes and around my nose and chin for extra coverage.

Natural Collection Loose Powder in Neutral Translucent: I lightly dusted this product over my face and focused on oiler areas such as the nose and chin.

Eye Makeup

Benefit Sha La Lovely Eye Primping Kit: I use this darker eye shadow shade to define my eyebrows with the mini concealer brsuh. I have to apply this quite lightly, but it does the job well!

Urban Decay Naked Palette using Sidecar, Smog, Darkhorse and Virgin: firstly I applied the Urban Decay Primer Potion that comes with this palette to prep my eyes. I applied Sidecar all over the lid with the flat eyeshadow brush in the palette. I love this eyeshadow, it's a gorgeous silver taupe with lots of glitter. Into the crease I applied Smog which is a darker golden brown. Then into the outer corner I applied Darkhorse which is a very dark brown with a small amount of gold glitter. Finally into the inner corner of my eye and my brow bone, I applied Virgin to highlight these areas.

2True Effortless Liquid Eyeliner in 1 Black: I applied this to the lash line to create a medium sized line to make my lashes appear fuller. If you haven't tried this product yet, do! It's £1.99 from Superdrug and is great quality! It's very black and lasts all day/ night.

Maybelline The Colossal Volum' Express Mascara in Glam Black: I apply this first to lengthen my lashes and give them some volume.

Soap and Glory Thick & Fast Mascara in Black: whilst the Maybelline mascara is still wet I apply the Thick and Fast mascara to build up even more volume. As I wasn't wearing false eyelashes I wanted really volumised eyelashes through my mascara.

Lip Makeup

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lip Stick in Nude Pink: I applied this first to give my lips a shimmery pink base. It has a fair amount of glitter in so gives a frosty finish.

Revlon Colourstay Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake: to warm this lipstick up I applied this lip butter to give a brighter flush of pink and cancel out some of the frosty finish. The overall look was a shimmery pink lip.

And this is what my makeup looked like on the night! This picture isn't great quality because it wasn't taken on a proper camera. I hope you liked the look!

Did you go to prom this year?

My Everyday Makeup

I love reading blogs and watching videos about what makeup people use on daily basis so I thought I would give you a peak into what is in my makeup bag! I have dry/ normal skin and I am quite sensitive to some products, so I tend not to switch around on items too often once I’ve found something that works for me.

Face makeup
Max Factor Xperience Weightless Foundation: 45 Raw Silk
A great foundation that is oil free and light weight so it doesn’t clog up your pores. This foundation is light to medium coverage, but can be built up to a much fuller medium coverage. I apply this with my Lydia Professionals F-010 foundation brush which I purchased from eBay.

Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer: 2 Light
This product is raved about so much and personally I think it deserves all the hype it gets! This concealer is a heavy coverage product that blends really nicely. I use this on blemishes and under my eyes.

Natural Collection Loose Powder: Neutral Translucent
Natural Collection is such a great brand. All the items are under £2 and their products, like the powders, work so well for me. This powder isn’t cakey feeling and leaves my skin quite matte. I apply this with my Body Shop Face and Body powder brush.

Natural Collection Blusher Powder: Pink Cloud
A great light pink blusher. I apply this with a Cosmopolitan blusher brush from Superdrug.

Eye makeup
Urban Decay Naked Pallet
One of my favourite makeup pieces of all time! I’m sure you’ve all seen this pallet and heard great reviews about it. I like to use Virgin (a shimmery white/ pink) on the lid and Naked (matte light brown) in the crease using the flat eyeshadow brush that comes in the pallet and a Prestige Shadow Sweep #104 brush.

Bourjois Eyeshadow Duo: 16 Crazy baby
This product was given to me by my friend and I don’t think they sell this anymore but the white shimmer colour is great as an inner-corner highlight.

M.U.A Eyeliner Pencil: Rich Brown
I love this eyeliner it’s so pigmented and creamy so it’s great to put above the lash line. M.U.A eyeliners are only £1. I would recommend checking them out, especially the brown as it’s much more natural looking than applying a black liner.

Maybelline Colossal Volume Express Mascara: Glam Black
I remember getting this a couple of years ago and the first time I used this mascara I was like WOW! It makes my eyelashes so long and thick, it’s a staple in my makeup bag.

Soap and Glory Thick and Fast Mascara: Black
This mascara does exactly what it says on the tin (well tube). It makes my eyelashes so volumised and black I just can’t live without it!

Lip makeup
Revlon Colourburst Lipbutter
When I heard about these being released in the US I wanted them right away! They eventually came out a few months later in the UK whilst Boots had a 3 for 2 offer on all cosmetics, so naturally I bought 3 in one go (Tutti Frutti, Berry Smoothie and Strawberry Shortcake). They’re so moisturising and have a lovely colour pay off!

These products create a natural look that is perfect for daily wear such as for college or sixth form. I hope you enjoyed this post and helped you if you’re looking for any new makeup to try out!

What are you makeup must haves?
