Hi everyone, I hope you're all well and enjoying the sunny weather we're having! So in a couple days I will be going on holiday which means this will be the last post from me for just over a week. Don't worry, there will be some amazing guest posts popping up on my blog over the next week so there will be new posts (and hopefully new blogs) for you to read! Today's post is about my new Essie polish in Cascade Cool which I was kindly sent by Half Price Perfumes. I've been lusting after this shade ever since I started buying Essie polishes and I'm so excited to be reviewing it for you all!

Cascade Cool is a gorgeous bright dusty pink and is one of those shades that every girl needs in their nail polish collection. It's definitely a perfect shade for summer and it looks amazing against a lot of skin colours! It hasn't got any shimmer in but it does leave a very glossy finish to the nails.
With most Essie polishes I have tried, the formula has always been very thick and becomes opaque on the nails in just a couple of coats. However, I do find Cascade Cool is a lot thinner and needs around 3 coats to be completely opaque (this is what I have done in the picture). This doesn't bother me too much as I've never been the type of person to do 1 coat of polish and leave it at that, but it may mean you need to spend a little extra time painting your nails to build up the colour. As Essie polishes come with a wide brush, it makes painting your nails quick and easy as you can cover your nail in just a couple of strokes. It also means you can get right down to the cuticle to create a perfect finish every time! As for the drying time, I found it dried pretty quickly and kept its glossy, smooth finish. My one issue with this polish is that it did chip and peel on a couple of nails within a 1-2 days when I didn't wear a top coat, so I think you do need to wear a good top coat with this polish to make it last longer!

Other than that, Cascade Cool is a gorgeous nail polish that I know I will get a lot of wear out of. I do love wearing bright colours during the summer and this shade is perfect for doing so! Essie Nail Lacquers are now just £1.99 on Half Price Perfumes!

Nails Of The Day | Off The Shoulder

Essie Nail Polish in Off The Shoulder
Essie Nail Polish in Off The Shoulder Swatch

Today I wanted to show you my new favourite nail polish! This is Essie's "Off The Shoulder" and you may have seen it in my Spring & Summer Nail Polishes post. I have absolutely fallen in love with this polish and wear it almost every time I paint my nails (lilacs are my next favourite shade!).

"Off The Shoulder" is a gorgeous glossy hot pink shade which, despite being such a popular nail polish colour, stands out from the rest in my collection. I love how this looks on my nails and I feel that it really compliments my skin tone. Also, the formula of this polish is amazing! It's creamy and opaque with just 1 coat, but out of habit I usually apply 2 for a more even finish. The flat, rounded Essie brushes make it so you can paint right down to the cuticle without creating a mess, plus they cover the whole nail in just a couple of swipes! Basically, the most easiest polish to apply! I find Essie polishes to last very well on the nails. Without a top coat the polish slightly chips within a day, but not so much that it bothers me.

Overall this is such a pretty nail polish and one that will be perfect with the Spring and Summer time! I recently ordered this from Fragrance Direct for just £1.99, so do keep checking the site to see if they have it back in stock!

Nails Of The Day | Royal Botanical Gardens

Nails Of The Day Nails Inc Royal Botanical Gardens Summer 2013 Nail Polish Review Belle-amie

Recently, I have been searching for all different shades of mint and blue nail polish ready for Spring and Summer. If you're a reader of my blog, you will know that I am loving this colour nail polish at the moment and cannot wait for Summer so I can wear it everyday! I was kindly sent a Nails Inc nail polish in, what I can only say, the more perfect shade ever! This is Royal Botanical Gardens and is part of the Spring/ Summer Trend Shades collection. The other shades available are: Chelsea Physic Garden (aqua blue), Kensington Palace Gardens (coral pink) and St James Park (pillar box red). I must say, Nails Inc is one of the best brands at giving names to their products, they always sound so cute!

Royal Botanical Gardens is a beautiful cool mint green shade which looks seriously bright on the nails! This shade is absolutely perfect for me right now as I'm loving mint/ blue nails, but only have a couple shades in my collection. The colour is completely opaque in 2-3 coats and applies really easily like all Nails Inc polishes I have tried. It has a glossy finish and looks great with or without a top coat. When I wore this, I actually forgot to put a top coat on and I found it chipped on 1 nail within a day. However, I'm sure paired with a top coat this will last much longer!

Nails Inc are one of my favourite nail polish brands for shades, quality and innovative effects! I would definitely recommend you picking up any shade (or all of them!) from this collection as I think they're all stunning!

Nails Inc polishes are available from the lookfantastic.com website with free delivery!

I've been enjoying swapping up my nail polish quite a lot recently and one of my newest favourites is the Nails Inc Leather Effect in Soho Mews. I never got into the "leather look" nails trend when it first came out, purely because I didn't know whether it would look that nice on my nails. However, I was able to try one in this gorgeous tan colour, and I must say, I'm slightly kicking myself for not trying it before!

Like I've said, Soho Mews is a beautiful tan coloured nail polish which dries to a "Leather Effect" finish. I absolutely love the shade of this polish as it's neutral colour yet due to the texture, looks a lot more interesting on the nails. Soho Mews applies like a normal nail polish and is opaque in just 1 coat! This is something I love in nail polishes, when you can quickly apply 1 coat and head out the door knowing your nails look great! As the polish starts to dry, the semi-matte leather effect begins to come through. I found the polish to dry quite quickly and it was nice to know that once the effect had come through, your nails were practically touch dry! Once my first coat had dried, I applied a second just to make the colour even more opaque (seen in the photos above). I didn't apply a topcoat over Soho Mews as I wanted to keep the semi-matte, leather look finish. However, I did find that within a day the polish did chip, so I would recommend pairing a matte topcoat with it to keep the full effect! I really like the subtle leather finish of this nail polish and it looks great for either day or night wear. I actually wore this polish during the day when I was in town and then later on in the night for a meal out; it's a very versatile polish!

The only problem I have with this nail polish is that the packaging is quite tacky. I found that the leather effect on the lid looks a bit messy and I think would be nicer if it actually matched the colour your nails would be. But to be honest, the packaging doesn't bother me that much as the product inside is really good and the main reason you're buying it!

I'm really loving Nails Inc nail polishes at the moment. I find them easy to apply and the colour/ effects range is amazing! I would love to try the deep red version called Shoreditch Lane from the "Leather Effect" collection. I think it's such a pretty shade and would look lovely on the nails!

Nails Of The Day | Edinburgh Feathers

Today, I want to show you a nail polish from Nails Inc's new limited edition collection "Feathers". There are 4 different polishes to choose from: Edinburgh, York, Chester and Cornwall, which contain tiny feather like particles that come in a range of pastel colours, perfect for Spring! The shade I have is Edinburgh, which contains pale blue and peach strands. I'm loving textured nails at the moment, anything from glitter to unusual effects like this polish, so I've been really excited to try this polish out!

In the photo above, I have layered 2 coats of Edinburgh over a nude nail polish. I found that this polish was very easy to layer up and create an opaque finish. You can also wear the feather polishes alone with 2-3 coats and it will build up to a similar effect. I really love the finish of this polish and if you can get most of the particles to lay in the same direction, it does remind me of a bird's feathers! I find it so interesting to look at and I like how it's incorporating 2 different Spring shades into 1 polish. I also like how the effect isn't so "in your face", so is absolutely perfect to wear on all of yours nails like I've done! In terms of how long it lasts, the strength is like a glitter polish so it won't chip easily and takes a bit more effort to remove with nail polish remover.

The packaging of the "Feathers" polishes is lovely. On each of the bottle's lid there is a bird which has the corresponding feathers as to what colours are in the bottle. I think that's so cute and looks really nice amognst my collection!

Overall, I do like this nail polish! It's very different to anything I've tried before and it's a nice way to have simple yet colourful nails. I would also like to try the shade Cornwall as I'm loving blue nail polish at the moment and I can imagine this to be very pretty!

You can buy Nails Inc Feathers Polishes for £11 from lookfantastic.com with free delivery!

Nails Of The Day | Chelsea Manor Street

Nails Of The Day Nails Inc Chelsea Manor Street Nail Polish Review Belle-amie
Nails Of The Day Nails Inc Chelsea Manor Street Nail Polish Close Up Review Belle-amie
Nails Of The Day Nails Inc Chelsea Manor Street Nail Polish Label Review Belle-amie

After being really impressed with the Nails Inc. polishes that were free in Glamour magazine last year, I was so excited that I was able to get my hands on a new polish! This is Chelsea Manor Street which is a gorgeous gunmetal, metallic shade with silver shimmer. We're going out for a meal for my mum's birthday, so I thought this would be the perfect nail polish to add a bit of edgy glam to my outfit.

This polish looks great with just one coat, but I applied two coats for a fully opaque colour to my nails. The finish is a glossy and shimmery metallic effect which I think is perfect for this time of year. I find the formula of this polish to be thick and creamy which is exactly what I want as it means it applies even and opaque to the nail. The brush is really good as well and means it's smooth and easy to apply. The only downside I find to these polishes is that they don't always last a long time. Sometimes they peel or chip easily, which means I find myself repainting a nail after a couple days. Today, I used the top coat from my Nail Doctor System to see whether this will help it last longer.

I'm completely in love with this polish as the colour is beautiful for nights out because it's quite strong and eye catching. I can't wait to pick up my next Nails Inc. polish, I'm especially loving the look of Brook Street (can't resist a good coral)!

Nails Of The Day | Floral

Floral Primark Nail Wraps £1

I've always loved the effect of nail foils/ wraps and Minx nails but I didn't want to spend around £10 on a set and not being sure if I would ruin them or if they would even last a day. I recently saw a review on the Primark nail wraps saying they were actually very good for £1, so I decided to pick up a floral set to try out. There are quite a few different styles you can pick from from tribal patterns to neon colours, but personally I think these ones are the prettiest!
These wraps are a black base with pink and yellow roses on which I think are very pretty for anytime of the year. You get 20 different sized strips per pack which means you can have them on your nails or toes!
They apply very easily. You select the wrap which most fits your nail and you can trim it so it fits perfectly. You then warm the strip up by rubbing it, peel it off and then apply it to your nail. Once you have smoothed it down, you file the edges to remove the excess strip. Very quick and simple!
I don't think these will last very long on the nails, probably about a day as they may come off in the shower. But, I think these would be perfect for a special occasion where you'd only need them for that day.
I will definitely be picking these up again, they're a perfect way to have effortless and pretty nails!

Nails Of The Day | Stars & Glitter

Left to right: Essie 'To Buy Or Not To Buy' | Revlon 'Star' | Barry M 'Silver Glitter' | Barry M 'Hologram'
Hey everyone!
So today I have another nails of the day post! I'm going out tonight and because I can't have my nails painted very much (blame college!), I wanted to make my nails have an extra 'something' than usual.
This look is a glitter ring finger and nail tips than would be perfect for winter because of all the cool colours.

I started with a base coat from The Nail Doctor Strengthening kit (review coming soon) to prep my nails for all the polish. I then applied 2 coats of Essie's 'To Buy Or Not To Buy' which is a cool, lilac colour with blue shimmer. Then over my ring finger, I applied about 3 coats of Revlon 'Star' which is a mixture of navy and silver glitters. I then left this over night to make sure it was completely dry for the next steps.
The next day I applied about 2 coats Barry M's 'Silver Glitter' to the ring fingers. Whilst it was still wet, I use the pointy end of an orange wood stick to pick up some of the chunkier glitters in Barry M's 'Hologram'. This makes the nail more interesting as it has different sized glitters on.
For the tips, I used Nailene Perfect Tips strips (as I am not a neat painter) and applied a coat of 'Star' and 'Silver Glitter'. I then waited for about 40 minutes and peeled the strips off. If you do it any earlier, the glitter will just peel off too. Finally I used the top coat from The Nail Doctor kit! So much nail polish haha!
I love how it turned out considering I rarely do tip colour/ glitter to my nails.

Hope you enjoyed this post!

Nails Of The Day | Once Upon A Time

Left to right - Revlon 910 Barely Peach | Revlon 762 Plum Attraction | Barry M 210 Once Upon A Time
Today I have a autumn/ fall type nail look that I think would be great for Bonfire night! The little strands of purple and silver look like mini fireworks and add texture to your nail.
I have a layer of Barely Peach by Revlon as my base coat and then 2 layers of Revlon's Plum Attraction. This is a lovely plummy purple colour with blue and pink shimmer running through it. It has a very glossy finish so I didn't bother with a top coat today!
I then applied 2 layers of Once Upon A Time by Barry M to my ring fingers. Chunky glitter polishes can be hard to work with because you can get a lot of the clear nail polish, but not a lot of the glitter. My advice is to apply a normal coat of the glitter polish and then take some of the glitters that are sitting inside neck of the bottle. These won't have much nail polish on them, so you can stick them to your wet nail allowing you to easily have more glitters on your nail. If you kept layering up the nail polish, it would get too thick and either smudge easily or peel off a couple hours later.

Hope you like this nail look!

Nails Of The Day | Raspberry

So I thought I would do another nails of the day post with one of my favourite Barry M nail paints! This is Raspberry, a lovely pink toned red which I think is great for Autumn. Here I have 2 layers of this polish to create the opaque and glossy finish. In real life it's a bit darker and I compliments my skin tone much better than a post box red does. If you haven't picked up this nail polish yet, now's a great time because it's such a nice colour for the cooler months!

You can buy Barry M nail paints from Boots, Superdrug and Barry M's website.

Nails Of The Day | Beach Party

Left to right: Ciate Paint Pot in My Fair Lady, Models Own Hed Kandi Polish in Beach Party and Natural Collection in Crystal Clear
Ring from Accessorize
It may be near the end of Summer, but I still wanted a bright pop of colour on my nails whilst there is still some sun left. I searched for ages to try and find Beach Party (even rummaging through the stock drawers under the makeup stands), and luckily one day I found one left on the shelf at Boots and I was so excited to try it out! I haven't worn this as much as I would like because it's a 'highlighter' shade of orange, completely neon, I shy away from wearing it.

Here I have a nude base coat of the My fair Lady, as without one, this nail polish will most certainly turn your nails a horrible shade of yellow! I then applied 2 coats of Beach Party. Now, I have a love hate relationship with this polish as I find it quite messy to apply. I really have to concentrate when I apply this! As long as you have some cotton buds and nail varnish remover to hand, you should be fine! Finally I put a layer of Crystal Clear on top to keep the polish from chipping.

Does anyone else own Beach Party? Do you like the neon trend?

I used the Revlon nail treatment just to prep my nails to make them feel smoother and healthier. I then applied a coat of My Fair Lady as a base coat. I then applied 2 coats of Models Own in Champagne. This is one of my all time favourite nail polishes because it so opaque and such a gorgeous, shiny gold colour. I then applied a top coat of Crystal Clear.
